There Is a Place for Men in the Feminist Movement
There is totally a place for men within feminism. We love men, and men have the privilege that lets them be heard by those who wouldn’t listen as well to women. We need men.
What we don’t need, and who there is no place for, is men who have failed to own their privilege. There is no place for men who don’t know how to listen. There is no place for men who expect to come into feminist spaces as though said spaces are like the rest of the world. There is no place for men who come into said spaces demanding to be heard and who become indignant when told that they’re not being helpful. There is no place for men who scream “unfair” when they’re told they can’t understand what they haven’t experienced. There is no place for men who fail to see the arrogance in assuming they know what’s best for women.
